A Mosque at Ground Zero? Once again it appears that sensitivity is being applied to the wrong group of people. Many victim’s families say NO. We say NO too! Build it somewhere else — That should be it. Why is it being forced upon them and the rest of us? We’re tired of the will of the American people being ignored.

Protecting The Wrong Groups (Again): A Mosque At Ground Zero? It’s Not Appropriate!

There’s nothing wrong with a mosque there. The will of the people is misinformed… it’s not a mosque. It’s a community center with a prayer room, and it is 2 blocks from G-0.
There are a lot of muslims in NYC. A lot drive cabs. I imagine there are prayer rooms or rooms that do double duty as prayer rooms in a lot of places.
If I operated a convenience store in Manhattan, I’d set up a prayer room in there. The cabbies could stop in to pray, and pick up a bagel and juice or something before they went back out on the road.

Sorry JK2001, your arguments simply do not hold any water.
First of all, nit-picking what name it goes by is a dodge. Call it a community center; call it a mosque that it is a distinction without a difference. You are avoiding the point of the complaints. Similarly, your attempt do define Ground Zero so narrowly again tries to avoid the issue. The building is so close to trade center buildings that were hit, the landing gear of Muslim terrorist Atta’s plane crashed through the roof. In my view, that IS Ground Zero
The simple fact is the terrorists have told us their acts are in the name of Islam. They interpret the Quran as commanding them to kill infidels. Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf has publicly blamed the U.S. and our policies for the attack. He also said that the U.S. has more blood on its hands than Al-Qaeda; he provides justification for the attacks, and is clearly sympathetic to their cause. Further, he will not divulge the funding source for the mosque /community center /whatever. Finally, Muslims have a known history of erecting Mosques at the site of major victories. Add it all up, and I believe it is a self aggrandizing statement of victory, and a warning that they will not stop until Sharia law is U.S. Law.
Still, I do not think the government should stop them. That would be a violation of the Constitutional rights provided to all citizens by the country the terrorists are trying to destroy.

I’m more concerned with the RIGHTS of the victims and how they feel about it! Again, build it elsewhere. Let’s look at the bigger picture here.

I don’t imply by the last line of the post that I think it should be built there. It clearly should not. I suggest that it should be stopped by we the people, and public opinion rather than the government.
