Green is the new black for politicians.  It’s also the new black for marketers.  Green is being used to sell you stuff, take away stuff, advance agendas, guilt you into submission, scare you, get you to pay more, etc.  Don’t buy a product or plan just because it has a so-called “green” label is attached to it.  Green is being used!  Politicians hope to bring in more green by emphasizing green to hopefully get them back in the black.  It appears to be a possible ticket out of the mess they’ve created — They’re hoping to get the American people to pay more under the guise of green.  And marketers are just wanting to sell you more products.  Don’t fall for any of it.  Think for yourself and continue to recycle — That still makes sense.

I complained that plastic bags are being made too thin and break more often than not.  The clerk said it’s a good thing because it breaks down in the environment more quickly — I should have asked her how much more quickly.  Give me a break!  If plastic bags are a major problem, why not stop manufacturing them all together and only offer paper?  I’m okay with that.

Instead the decision to cheapify plastic bags has compounded problems.  My groceries/purchases now need to be double bagged, since I’m not always walking around with my “green” bags in hand.  If plastic bags are going to be manufactured, they should be reasonably sturdy — I always recycle them, but since they’re being made so cheaply these days, they haven’t been reusable, and thus a complete waste times two.

Too many grocery items have broken falling through the bottom of ridiculously thin plastic bags forced on the public under the guise of the go green campaign, which a lot of clerks/companies seem to buy into.  “Green” helps to guilt the public into paying a proposed bag tax.  Again, our US government wants us to pay more for less.

Don’t let it happen.  If a bag tax is deemed necessary for the environment (scare tactic), it should be paid by manufacturers.  And if plastic bags are available, I don’t need the attitude for asking that my pickles be double bagged.  Do your part respecting the beauty of God’s Earth and don’t fall for ALL the go green rah rah.  We really don’t have that much control.  Environmental extremism is the next big wave of political and corporate thievery.  Taxing and charging doesn’t make the environment cleaner.  And don’t even get me started on the carbon footprint pay-off BS.
